Apprenticeship Program for Teachers
28.01.2024 - 17.03.2024 - BOOK NOW
This program is designed for yoga teachers who are relatively new to teaching and/or want to become more skilled and experienced to find their own unique way of teaching.
The program entails:
5 workshops on 4 different weekends
1x Assisting in Sonja's class
1x taking notes and asking questions in Sonja's class
1st Worshop: Alignment & Anatomy - Sunday 28.01.2024 - 2pm-7pm
Learn more about the alignment of the positions you teach. To any asana there’s a loads of different opinions on how to do them correctly. What is the most common alignment and why do we sometimes choose a different approach? What’s the underlying anatomy? How can you modify positions for different body types? We’ll dive into the science of alignment with very little dogma and a ton of curiosity!
2nd Workshop: Hands-On & Hands-off - Sunday 18.02.2024 - 2pm-7pm
As you’d expect we’ll learn various hands-on techniques, assisting is a whole universe to discover in itself. We’ll try assists that are rather soft and guiding the student into the desired direction as well as some stronger techniques, that take control over the students’ body, so they can get a grasp of what the position can also feel like. We’ll talk about the pros and cons of each approach.
There’s no right or wrong and you need to find your own style.
3rd Workshop: Sequencing - Sunday 03.03.2024 - 2pm-7pm
Smart sequencing - Vinyasa Krama - always asks the question: What is this Class about? What’s the teachers intention to get through to the students? This can be one or multiple peak poses or a particular technique but it could also be to overall strengthen the body. Let’s talk about the different approaches and systems so you understand the techniques behind them. I’ll also provide you with some basic templates for you to use in your own classes.
4th Workshop: How to Teach - Saturday 16.03.2024 - 2pm-7pm
This long double Workshop is your time to put all the things together.
We’ll first do a little bit of revision of the previous 3 Workshops and answer all open questions that may have come up.
The Yoga-Theory part ends with the often raised questions about wether or not to add Pranayama/Kriyas/Dharma talk to your Class. Diclaimer: it absolutely depends. ;)
Before we call it a day, let’s briefly discuss Yoga as your business. What expenses and wages to expect, what obstacles commonly overlooked and I’ll happily answer any questions about my +10 years of working full-time as a yoga teacher
5th Workshop: Practice with Feedback- Sunday 17.03.2024 - 2pm-7pm
Now is your time to shine. You will teach a sequence you created to the group. Everybody will get detailed feedback about the sequence, the pace, the use of voice, the assists and the overall experience.
You can book the first 3 Workshops individually or all 5 Workshops as a package.
